When Worship Becomes A Sacrifice

ABRAHAM SACRIFICING ISAAK

Gen 22:9  Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.
Gen 22:10  And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.
Gen 22:11  But the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.”
Gen 22:12  And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”
Gen 22:13  Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.
Gen 22:14  And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”

Beloved I want to share this with you today. When worship becomes a sacrifice. When we look at this scripture we all like to quote the verse where Abraham said to Isaac that the Lord will provide (which He did). But have you ever though about the fact that Abraham had no idea that God will send a ram just in time! He was willing to sacrifice his son in order to please God. He never questioned the instruction given to him. He knew that being obedient to God was more important than anything.

Beloved I believe that it is time for us to start worshipping God with a dagger in our hands! The kind of worship where we take the things in our life that is not pleasing to God to an altar of sacrifice. That place of worship where we don’t care about what people think about us. Where nothing matters more than what you are bringing before the Lord God.

The bible says in Joh4:24  God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” How can we worship God in spirit and truth if we have a load of sin in our lives? Sin separates us from the Father (Isa51:2)

Worship should be an act of complete sacrifice, everything we are and everything we have should be placed before our Abba Father. This may not seem like the nice form of worship we are used too. But I assure you it’s the kind of worship God is looking for.

So today when you are in your quite place with God, allow the Holy Spirit to show you what there is in your life that needs to be sacrificed. He will guide you and lead you into a deeper more intense relationship with Father God. And remember: God will always honour obedience.

Have a blessed day!
